Golden Shears 2006

The BIGGEST shearing and wool handling contest in the world!

  • Held in Masterton, New Zealand

  • March 2nd, 3rd, and 4th 2006

  • Entries Due Friday February 17th                                                                                              Entry Form

  • Entry Fees range from $35 to $60.

 

Western National Stock Show

This is the big one in the US! The international Open  and Junior Shearing Contest

  • January 7, 2006 9am, Denver Colorado

  • Standard US scoring: Contestants are judged on time, condition of fleece, absence of second cuts in fleece, manner of handling sheep, absence of cuts on sheep, appearance of shorn sheep.

  • Each professional contestant shears four sheep and each junior shears three sheep.

  • Entry Fee $15.00, Entries close December 31, 2005

  • Junior premiums: 1st place $1000, 2nd $600, 3rd $300

  • Professional premiums: 1st $1500, 2nd $1000, 3rd $600, 4th $300
